COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) has partnered once again with the Gateway Film Center to bring free movies to CML cardholders this summer.
Now in its eleventh year, From Book to Film offers CML cardholders free admission to a series of films that were inspired by and adapted from books.
The 2021 From Book to Film series lineup includes:
- June 4-6: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
- June 11-13: Akeelah and the Bee (2006)
- June 18-20: Paddington 2 (2018)
- June 25-27: October Sky (1999)
- July 2-4: A League of Their Own (1992)
- July 9-11: My Hero Academia: Two Heroes (2018)
- July 16-18: Whale Rider (2002)
- July 23-25: A Little Princess (1995)
- July 30-Aug. 1: Wonder (2017)
From Book to Film screenings occur every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free (for up to four people) with your library card.

We value our partnership with Gateway Film Center and how their From Book to Film series provides another avenue for kids to remain engaged in reading and learning during the summer.”

Gateway Film Center has served the Columbus community since December 2009. The center has been recognized as Columbus’s best movie theater by every major city publication and as a top-20 North American art house by the Sundance Institute. In 2019, the Film Center screened over 1,000 films representing over 40 countries, served over 300,000 visitors and offered over 7,500 complimentary admissions through its community programs.
