CML CEO Lauren Hagan led the ceremony, which included Canal Winchester Mayor Joe Steager, Canal Winchester City Administrator Matthew Peoples, Canal Winchester City Council Vice President Laurie Amick, Canal Winchester City Councilmembers Alec McLaughlin and Patrick Shea, CML’s Canal Winchester Branch Manager Keith Hanson and representatives from the Franklin County Auditor, Bostwick Design Partnership and Turner Construction.

The current Canal Winchester Branch at 115 Franklin St. is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. It opened in 2016 as an “express branch” to serve a community that did not previously have close access to library services. It will remain open during construction of the new branch. The new, standalone Canal Winchester Branch under construction at 123 Groveport Rd. will be more than five times the size of the current branch, from roughly 5,400 square feet to approximately 30,000 square feet. CML expects to open the new Canal Winchester Branch in 2026. Turner is the construction manager at risk and Bostwick Design Partnership is the architect.
