COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) yesterday topped out its new Linden Branch with the final steel beam.

CML CEO Lauren Hagan led the ceremony, which included State Sen. Hearcel Craig, CML Board of Trustees President Tom Katzenmeyer, CML Trustee Catherine Strauss, Linden Branch Manager Laura Johnson Peace and representatives from Moody Nolan and Turner Construction.

The Linden Branch was built in 2004. The new two-level Linden Branch, being built on the same site, will more than double its size from roughly 12,700 square feet to approximately 27,000 square feet. Turner is the construction manager at risk and Moody Nolan is the architect.

During construction, CML has opened a temporary Linden Branch at 1990 Jefferson Ave. It is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Columbus Metropolitan Library has served the people of Franklin County, Ohio since 1873. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML is well known for signature services and programs like School Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge and Ready for Kindergarten. The library’s Strategic Plan supports the vision of “a thriving community where wisdom prevails,” which positions CML to respond to areas of urgent need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources.
