COLUMBUS—In preparation for construction of Columbus Metropolitan Library’s (CML) new Linden Branch, the current branch, located at 2223 Cleveland Ave., will close to the public at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.
CML will open a temporary Linden Branch at 1990 Jefferson Ave., next to the Linmoor Education Center, at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 15. Its hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and closed Sunday. The collection size will be reduced with a focus on high-interest titles. When the new Linden Branch opens in 2025, the collection will return to its normal size.
This rescheduling follows an earlier construction delay.
The Linden Branch was built in 2004. The new two-level Linden Branch, to be built on the same site, will more than double the size of the current branch from roughly 12,700 square feet to approximately 27,000 square feet. Turner is the construction manager at risk and Moody Nolan is the architect.
CML will kick off construction with an indoor ceremonial “wallbreaking” at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17. This brief, highly visual event will include library leaders and city and community officials. It is free and open to all. Parking is available in the branch parking lot.
