WHAT: Topping out of CML’s new Canal Winchester Branch
Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) will commemorate the topping out of its new Canal Winchester Branch with a photo opportunity for the media. The brief, highly visual event will mark a major construction milestone as the final steel beam is affixed to Canal Winchester’s new library branch, expected to open in 2025.
CML CEO Lauren Hagan will be available for comment.
The current Canal Winchester Branch at 115 Franklin St. is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. It opened in 2016 as an “express branch” to serve a community that did not previously have close access to library services. It will remain open during construction of the new branch. The new, standalone Canal Winchester Branch under construction at 123 Groveport Rd. will be more than five times the size of the current branch, from roughly 5,400 square feet to approximately 30,000 square feet. CML hopes to open the new Canal Winchester Branch in 2025. Turner is the construction manager at risk and Bostwick Design Partnership is the architect.
